As many of you will be aware, Emma Rice’s celebrated adaptation of Angela Carter’s Wise Children is coming to Bristol’s Old Vic from the 23rd January until the 16th February. In celebration of this, Emma Rice has selected four films which will be screened at Bristol’s Watershed. Each of these films will “capture the spirit of performance in a thrillingly diverse way”, according to the blurb on the Watershed website. The film screenings kick off with Powell and Pressburger’s 1948 masterpiece The Red Shoes on Sunday 6th January. After the final screening, on the 27th January, there will also be a discussion between Rice and Nell Gifford at the Watershed in which they will explore the tradition and future of touring performance.
