A new short course of study focused on Angela Carter has just been announced by the University of Cambridge. Entitled ‘Angela Carter for the 21st Century: firework and strange worlds’, the course will take place from the 22nd until the 24th June 2018 and will be conducted at Madingley Hall, home to the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. As the organisers have described it, the course will utilise “new scholarship, new biographical information, and established passions for her work” in order to examine the incredible diversity of Carter’s writings, from her stories about fairy tales to her Gothic novels, and from her surrealist-inspired texts to her writings for film. The course tutor is Professor Gina Wisker (University of Brighton), but students will also benefit from the expertise of Dr Marie Mulvey-Roberts (UWE Bristol) and Dr Paulina Palmer (Birkbeck).
